Late Summer Fun -- Ellie's Baptism

Our summer has been more then fun this year... it has been a great year for me all together but this summer we got to gather as a family once again, this time to celebrate Ellie's baptism on Sept. 17th. It was such a wonderful occasion and I have to give thanks to the Lord for allowing us another family filled fabulous event. We got to witness Alex baptize his daughter and Grandpa Mike bless Ellie with the Holy Ghost. We all gathered at church and Ellie showed up in a beautiful white dress, signifying the pureness of the ordinance and she looked beautiful. We all are so very happy for Ellie, proud too, as this is a time she will never forget in her life. We will never forget it either.

Summer... sunshine, flowers, blue skies, green grass, birds and bird feeders, children playing in the yard and squeeling with delight, bikes, lemonade, picnics, traveling, sprinklers, popsicles and ice cream trucks... all these things have slowed down down now... the best time of year is now leading into that time of year that we call FALL... and when I think of fall... I think of school, cool weather, coats and jackets, and worst of all... FOOTBALL... You'd think with a High Schooler here at home who plays in the band that football season would put a smile on my face... and I do smile when I think of Briggs playing music for the games... and this year I will actually be able to see Briggs' face while he's out there because he is playing the drums this year... but this year is sort of starting off sad for me... why... because this week I went with Briggs and we picked up his letterman jacket... that's smile worthy... YES, but then the realization hit... he is now a Junior in HS, only two more years left of that... I thought that when I saw him in his jacket I would be excited, which I have to admit... he looks awesome in his jacket... but boy does it stand as a marker for this season in my life... the time has really marched on and so it is that he is starting his Junior year of HS, I'm now 50 years old... fall is here or will be here shortly... and dang it... I'm just feeling my age right now!! =) But... Life is Good!!

What a summer it's been!! I have had the opportunity to do a lot in the last few months, but unfortunately, I didn't take as many pictures as I would of like to of. First off, Briggs left the last day of school and flew to Arizona to go camping with his brothers, sister in laws and nieces and nephew!! They camped in Sodona and then he spent a week at Oliver's and Natalie's place and then went to Alex and Ashley's for another week and then brought his nieces home with him and they spent three weeks here with us!! Another really fun thing that Mike and I got to do was to fly to Philadelphia and saw the Liberty Bell, then went off to Atlantic City and spent the night at the Trump Plaza, then off to Cape May in New Jersey. This trip was provided to us by P Farm as a gift for his region winning the biggest award P Farm gives out each year. What a great trip this was. The Atlantic ocean was wonderful, the sites and places we got to see during this trip were unforgettable. Now summer is winding down and Briggs have been at band camp for a whole week... time is marching on... Briggs can even tell you he agrees with that!! =)

It isn't even summer yet, but we are as busy as can be. Briggs is involved in what seems like everything, or at least it seems like everything that Briggs is involved in is happening all at once. AND that isn't even counting the winding down of his 15the year of age... soon we will have to deal with him wanting to drive to everything he's involved in. This last week has been a fun and busy week, and so I will post the pics that go with some of our activities of the week. Briggs supported the JV pole vauling team this last week and at that meet, he was able to earn a fourth place award. Then on Sat morning he took part in the last course class of the Young Eagles aviation course at UNO by getting to man an airplane by himself (with pilot on board, of course). The excitment was evident as Briggs was all smiles even while climbing into the cockpit of this itty bitty plane!!

BRIGGS and WRESTLING 2011

Well... it's already February... and nothing seems to be happening other then WRESTLING... and I say that with capitol letters... NOT because of our love of HS wrestling, but more because it is all consuming during these months of the year. Briggs is on the varsity team and is completely enjoying it. I really wish I could say the same, but I can say that I enjoy supporting him and the team this year. It is a basically young team with most wrestlers being sophomores, but none the less... it has made for an fun filled season!!
The picture I'm posting is of the Plattsmouth tourney and this pic is a little gift to me as a parent of one of the other wrestlers snapped the shot for me as we weren't there at that particular time. Confession: I can only take the matches for so long... it un nerves me to hear grown men come unglued over the ref's calls and show such unsportsmanlike attitudes. Anyway, because we had had enough this particular match... we got out-a there... and look what we missed. We learned our lesson!! Briggs is wrestling varsity, 112 pounds and he is sooo proud of that weight gain!! He is 15 going to be 16 in May... where has all the time gone??!! Sure do love this boy of mine!!

Another year is coming to a close and the only thing I can say about it is... where the heck did all of it go?? Seems just like yesterday that I was planting flowers in the yard and enjoying all the birds by the bird feeder... now there's snow and the days seem so full that I can hardly keep up with all that I really need to get done. It's been a great year tho. We have gotten to spend some real special times with our sons and their wives and grandchildren and those are the times I have enjoyed the most this year. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary with an awesome trip to Cozumel Mexico by cruise ship, visit Disneyworld, Key West and then got to go spend three days/nights at a lake up in South Dakota with the whole family... plus the added bonus of having Pat and Judy come up and spend time with us all there too. Life is Good. Briggs is doing GREAT in school again this year as an A student enjoying marching band, wrestling and no doubt baseball in the spring, Alex, Ryan and Oliver have all been promoted at work, and finding satisfaction with their jobs and their lives in general. Mike is still happily working at P-Farm and me still working at Dakota News. I love my job, so does Mike and so life keeps ticking away!! I am so thankful for my loving Heavenly Father who is watching over all of us and blessing us so fully each day. Thankful too for my family and the joy that I receive each and every day as I realize the blessings of my family, faith and life. I am especially thankful for my husband who is always there for me and our family, who is always the first to lend a hand when needed and first to stand up for what's right. He takes wonderful care of all of us and I love him and am eternally thankful for his influence in my life. LIFE IS GOOD. Wishing each of you a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!! =)

One of my most favorite times are the times I get to spend with my entire family. It's really hard to believe that my family has grown this big... I LOVE this tho... as a child I always wanted a big family... and now I have it. As a family it is so appartant that we have been so very blessed, blessed with life, the gospel, but also blessed to have each other... and it's times like these last month that the blessings come forward enough for us all to feel how special it is and to get together and enjoy!! Uncle Pat and Aunt Judy came and spent some time with the whole group of us... it was wonderful!!

Pride of the Antlers Marching Band...

Briggs is enjoying another year involved in the Elkhorn High Pride of the Antlers Marching Band... and we're loving it too.
He continues to play the French Horn, or Mellowphone in the marching band and has already been busy going to games and also competitions. This year the band has a new director and so everything seems to be flowing into place already... good thing as our first performance was only four days after school started this year. Here are just a couple of pics I took from the game this past weekend!! FUN !!!

It's been a Long HOT summer, but I have to admit, heat and all... it's been the best summer ever!! It all started when Briggs left for EFY, he went for an entire week and LOVED it the whole time. He even called me from there to let me know how happy he was with his/their performance at the talent show and we EVEN got a video of it. I will try to figure out how to post it here for everyone to see. Then once we picked him up from KU we left then and there for our weeks vacation to Arizona. We got to Arizona in record time and went right into Olivers house. Alex and Ash meet us there on their way out to Calif for their mini vacation. We had all four grandchildren at Oliver's house... thanks Oliver... it was awesome. Spent those few hot days at the pool in Oliver's neighborhood... which was fun. Being with the kids (all at once) is AWESOME and I'm so thankful for that opportunity. Then we left Olivers and drove home with Anny and Ellie with us. We left Briggs with his brothers to spend time with them and we came home with our own little sunshine fro Az. What a great trip it was, they are GREAT travelers. Spent the next three weeks with them exploring Nebraska and showing them where their grand dad is from, showing them where their Great Grandparents lived and the store their great Grand dad built. It was fun to show them these things as the George family was a big part of the town of Orchard Nebraska. At that same time we got to celebrate Uncle Pat's marriage to Judy at a family favorite hangout... what a great time it was. Here are a few pics from our three weeks together!!

We had the greatest time ever... our trip went as planned but I don't think any of us could really imagine all the fun we would have on this once in a lifetime cruise!! It all started out on Sat morning at 6;30 Am when we flew out of Omaha to Orlando Florida, we got there mid day and spent that day shopping and driving around like real tourists. Then the next day was DISNEYWORLD !! We had a hopper pass so we could visit all the parks we wanted to see... but as for me... i could of spent all day at the Disney Hollywood where my all time favorite ride is... Briggs and I went on it twice each... Mike and Ryan pooped out on us... so Briggs and I had to show who was tougher... I really could of gone on it more, but Briggs wanted to see more of the park...
The next day we boarded the ship and headed out to key West... OK... If anyone wants to know where i want to retire... it's there!! We had a blast on that beautiful island... what a dream come true for me.
Then off to Cozumel... this is really just another awesome place that you have to visit to really be able to understand how awesome it is. Went to see Tulum, the Mayan Ruins... I can't even begin to tell how I felt being there, but the one thing I do know... is that something happened there... it's not random that this place is sitting there and the remains of a city still there for us to ponder... Ponder... that's what you do when there.
Had a great time with my three sons... things would of been so much better if only Alex and family had been there too, but as it was... we truly had a GREAT time. I will never forget my 30th Wedding Anniversary!!

When I signed on here after so long and realized my last post was from Christmas... I was shocked... I think because I'm always on facebook and making posts there... I have forgotten about my blog here. But, to bring it up to date... I'm so happy to announce that in just a couple weeks... (actually in 13 days... Mike and I will of been married for 30 years!!) and to celebrate this great accomplishment we are celebrating it by taking a cruise to Cozumel Mexico, first stopping in Orlando Florida and going to Disney World, then boarding the ship and stopping in Key West, then on to Cozumel!! I cannot wait!! I will post pics here once we get back. Ryan, Oliver, Natalie, Briggs and Olivia are coming with us. All of us except for Alex and family. (boohoo).
Winter has all but gone away now, so we're all thinking spring and enjoying the warm weather, birds singing in the trees, blue skies and everything will be good when the flowers get here!! School is already in the third quarter... hard to believe, but true.
Briggs is now enjoying playing on the high school Freshman Baseball team... we're so proud that he made the team. His first game will be this weekend... pictures to follow!

Christmas Morning 2009

We had an early start again this year... Oh.. I guess I can't complain... we're the ones who created the family tradition of getting up at the crack of down to open presents... so we did it again this year... (When is nap time??!!)
It was fun waiting this year as we were really looking forward to surprising Briggs with the Wii Beatles Band Hero game this year... I think we were looking forward to it as much as any young child would... it has not let us down either. All it took was for the box to get open for the guys to run downstairs and begin the concert of the century at our house. I don't think I've laughed this hard in YEARS... it really is a treat to hear Mike sing with a microphone!! I tried it once and got a score of 7, Mike took over and never scored below 95 points!! Ryan said he tried to help me out by setting it on handicapped... but I guess that didn't work either. No one told me that the GAME part of this game was that you get judged on your performance... even the singing... so just be advised when you pick up the mic... there's just no singing along with this game if your using the mic... it judges your performance!! =) Hey... Mike even has a British accent now!!!

Today is the first time this year that you can really feel that winter is here... snow is on the way... I can just feel it!! Good thing Briggs got into the spirit a little bit earlier then Mike and myself did, as it is because of his ambition to start the holiday festivities that we have our tree up already and the lights up outside... if you were to see our place your would think we were totally into it all this year !!

Anny's Baptism and Our Family Trip to Arizona

First off, I would just like to say that I LOVE it most when our family can be all together in one place... even though it can get crazy... it's the most fun and we really should make these events happen more often. I have learned this last year that a person must enjoy the journey *while on the journey* and that is what I am trying to do because if there is anything I have learned over the years is that nothing stays the same, life changes and circumstances change and while your experiencing life you had better enjoy it and recognize where it is that your blessings come from.
Just this month we were able to travel out to Arizona for Anny's baptism. What a fabulous time we all had. I so love being around all four of my grandchildren... could there be anything more fun to do in life then soak up all the goodness that has been a blessing to your life?? Anny turned 8 in September and that is the age that our church baptizes children. She was baptized by her father (Alex) and Papa (Mike) was able to bless her with the holy ghost. It was a great ordinance and tho I do not have actual pictures of the baptism I do have some from immediately afterward. We all love Anny and are so proud of her outward expression of love for her Heavenly Father by being baptized.

Briggs is a freshman this year which means that he can now can be in Marching Band !! He has been involved in the Marching Band Summer Camp this month and surprisingly enough, in one week they were able to get a routine done and be able to show it off to us parents!! It was awesome, I'm impressed with all that Dr. B was able to get out of 190 students. And the uniforms are AWESOME and Briggs looks so cute in it!! Here is a picture of him looking so handsome in it!!

Not only was there music camps,a trek, and YMCA Baseball, but we were able to get in a little canoeing this summer too!! Summer Band Camp

The whole first week of August was devoted to Marching Band Camp for Briggs. He was there from 9 Am to 5 PM each and everyday during this time. The band had 190 members and somehow Dr. B was able to command this band and get the new freshmen to get it together enough to be able to perform a portion of their halftime show on Friday evening. I was delighted to watch and even more delighted when I saw just how much had been accomplished this week alone. Dr. B is amazing and I think she has an amazing band too. Here are some pictures that I took to be able to remember it as it was in the beginning for Briggs. He LOVES it and I am so thankful, because I too loved my band years of High School!! Oh.. don't worry, I will post pics of Briggs in his band uniform!!

Pioneer Trek

In the month of June of this year Briggs got to participate in a church activity that gives the youth of the church the opportunity to re-enact the Mormon Pioneer Trek somewhat like it would of been back in the day. This year, the youth got to experience part of the actual path that the Mormon pioneers took, and it included muddy roads, rain showers and downpours, dragging a handcart through streams, mud, junk and all that goes with life on the trek. Briggs left there with a new understanding of the hardships of the pioneers, but also the faith that they must of had to even commit to going and then finishing it the whole way. What a great experience for him and me... as I got to go and take pictures along the way.

I guess I have been neglecting my blog, because my son Alex emailed me today saying "update your blog", so... I guess I had better start to do just that. I will start by posing a picture of Briggs at his last game of 2009 YMCA baseball. What a great game it was, I saw some awesome ball playing, surprising ball playing even, as these boys all have refined their efforts and you could really see it today. What a pleasure it was, even tho I found out that here in this area the YMCA does not have any high school age baseball teams... boo hoo!! I will miss my little spot out there beside the field!!

Today, while sweating away at a fabulous baseball game (Briggs' YMCA game) I came home to a inbox full of pictures of my beautiful little angel grandchildren!! Oh how looking at them makes my heart sing. I wish so bad that I was with all of them this weekend, but pictures are the next best thing!! A Little Funny...

Briggs has done especially well this last year at school. He was on the honor roll all three years of middle school and has received several awards along the way, the picture I'm posting if of the last award for Briggs in 8th grade. It was the Presidential Award of Excellence in School, not just academics but also excellence in all areas of his school career. It was awarded to him by the Principle of his school and it's was awesome to see just how many 8th graders were at this award ceremony. It made my heart proud to see so many people excelling in school. When we got home we asked Briggs to put away all this school stuff that was laying all over the floor of the basement and get it all cleaned up down there... to which he did, and at the same time decided to illiminate some junk he had accumulated. So, taking all that he was learned this year about being smart minded... he thought he would get rid of his drums... not by just giving it away... he decides to sell it... I didn't know anything about this plan, but when I went to leave later that day I noticed the following sign in our yard. The sign is about 6 inches x 10 inches big... ANYWAY, if it wasn't so cute and so "Briggs"... I would of taken it down, but what the heck... maybe he can sell his drums...

Our loving and beautiful daughter in law Dawn passed away Thursday afternoon 7 May 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family at her bedside. She left this mortal existence to go home to her Father in Heaven and family on the other side of the veil. Dawn graced our lives with love, laughter and joy and she will be greatly missed by our whole family. Our lives would be sadly different had we never met and added Dawn to our lives. We loved her so. It was our pleasure to know her and consider her our family forever. We look forward to spending eternity with her in a place of happiness and joy and devoid of sadness and sickness. We gladly acknowledge that our lives will forever be bound together through the blessings promised to us from our Heavenly Father.

What a grand thing it is... to welcome a new grandbaby!! What a wonderful treat it was to meet our new little Olivia. She came to the world a couple weeks early and we are ever so thankful to our Father in Heaven that she came when she did... we had been waiting long!!! Today I got in the mail a letter from "Presidents Education Awards Program" which is awarding Briggs an award for Educational Excellence. It is being held at the middle school on Tuesday. What I want to know is.... what is this???? This invitation is to a reception in his honor.... hhmmmm.... just have to wonder about this one...

Ok, last week Mike was watching Orange County Choppers and he happened to see Paul Sr. and Pauli Jr. eat a whole box of Cheerios... while watching this Mike notices what all they had put in the cereal, and decided he had to try it. They had added bananas and raisins to Cheerios... Simple as that... BUT....YOU HAVE TO TRY IT.... it's amazingly good. This is our new taste sensation and we've all had a bowl of it every morning since last week!! No more brown spotted bananas on the counter!! Aside from this awesome little benefit, there has to be some kind of goodness in eating bananas, Cheerios and raisins every morning. At least regularity... if nothing else!!
TRY IT!!! I know what your thinking... these people are creatures of habit... your right, but we just can't get over how tasty it is!!

Cast is OFF!!

Monday the 30th of March Briggs got his cast off!! That really was a fast three weeks. His arm has healed but he has to take it easy for three more weeks. That means that even though he is starting track and field at school, he will have to limit his choices to just running, so no hurdles or things like that and unfortunately NO LONG JUMPS... which is what Briggs was really wanting to do. Possibly after his next check up in three weeks. Why is it so hard for boys to just sit at the piano and be happy??!! If you wondering about that last picture... NO, he is not sniffing it... he is looking to see if the "cast faerie" left him a treat...:-)

I would go to the store and pick up my developed pictures and sit for hours looking at them and marveling at how awesome it was to get my pictures from the grocery store. Now when I think back to that, it seems so primitive!! I absolutely love it when I get pictures sent to me in my email box and I can just click and see the pictures just that fast. I love new technology!!
Today when I signed on I found the cutest pictures of my grandkids... what a great surprise and treat that is for me. I am sharing them here, because as you can see they are beautiful...

Today I Got A Treat!!

In the mail today was a package from one of the Account Reps for Pepperidge Farm that Mike works with, he awarded me a way cute little Ipod shuffle that has an adorable gold fish on it. How did I get it?? I helped Mike out one day taking pictures of displays in various stores around town. Mike had to attend a food show and would miss the deadline if I didn't get out there and do it for him... So, camera in hand I walked in to the stores I needed to and snapped the pics... all without anyone hassling me or having a problem with me taking pictures. One store manager had to help me find the display and I was carrying the camera the whole time. It's hard to hide, it's bright pink!! Anyway, luckily for me, I was treated for my efforts and I'm still thinking about whether I will share with Mike or not!!!!!

On Saturday Briggs was in a huge tournament when he went up against the areas second best wrestler and while in such a rugged match... Briggs promptly had his elbow broke.
A trip to the Dr today let us know that indeed there is an injury and he is out for the rest of the season. Good News tho..... his cast is black, showing ultimate support for the Red and Black Elkhorn Antlers!!

What a fabulous weekend this was!!
For two weeks me and my boys have been keeping a BIG secret and it's amazing that we were able to pull it off and do such a great job at it, I might add!! Alex flew here on Sunday morning and unbeknown to Mike he flew into town and had his brothers pick him up from the airport and bring him all the way over to our town to attend church, all for a surprise to their dad for his 50th birthday!! Dad was conducting at church and it was no big deal when his sons and daughters in law walked in to join the sacrament service, but while conducting Mike watches as Alex comes into the meeting and mid sentence dad notices who was walking in and dad just stares... says "ummmmmmmmm... sorry, but my son just walked in", then continues on with whatever it was that he was saying... it was classic!! You know all of us Kelloggs down in the pews were smiling with glee as we just got to shock dad so completely that he didn't even have words or whits about him to fake the utter surprise we did on him!!!!! Life is good. Later we got to go to Mikes sisters mother in laws 95th birthday, what a great treat is was for all of us. Had a great time there, then we went home to have a turkey dinner with all the fixins!! I really didn't know this morning whether or not Mike had some kind of inkling that the day was going to be special or what because we normally don't have a turkey other then at Thanksgiving... but what a great un-thanksgiving it was for all of us!! Have I told you how much I LOVE my family??!! Well, I DO!! Alex even brought some darling drawings that my grand daughters made for me. See the pics of them... Not only do I have an awesome family, cute grand children, but artists even!!!

This weekend will be Oliver's 24th Birthday... can it really be that he has been home from his mission for three years??!! Time has flown for our family for the last few years as there have been many wonderful happenings happen in our family. This weekend we will celebrate Olivers birthday here at the house after church with a nice dinner and cake and ice cream. How do 24 year old's like spend their birthday??... anyway, we will wing it this year and hope this will be a fun day for him!!
Since Oliver didn't take the antler mounting of his deer he shot this last year that dad mounted for him, I thought I would give him that for his birthday present too, maybe this will get him interested into taking it home and putting it up on the wall in his study!! Jazz Band and Concert Choir Concert Feb 12, 2009

Briggs had a concert last night and I have to say that with each year it seems these kids get better and better in their singing and their performing. It was such a great time to watch them with their confidence up and the fun that they have together as a team!! They have great teachers... Mr Johnson in music and Mrs Wortman in Choir. Earlier this month they attended a show choir competition in Papilion where there were 16 different middle and high schools there competing and Elkhorn Classic Middle School went home with the number one award. I am so very impressed and it is so much fun to attend these activities. THEY KNOW HOW TO PERFORM and I love it that Briggs is always up front and center!! Such a cutie, I must say!!

I got a great treat today, Mikes cousin Jim posted a video of the PF Change 1/2 Marathon onto his facebook acct. I am trying to figure out a way to copy it onto here, IF this is possible!! If not, go to my facebook and click on the posting from Jim Kohout... in it you will see him and Briggs cross the finish line!! This is so exciting... I wasn't there for the run and so to actually be able to see it in reality is such a treat. If you watch the screen, look to the right side of the video and when you see Jim Kohout's name come on the bottom right corner... right above it you will see Jim and Briggs running toward the finish line!! It makes me tear up to see just how excited they were... I can totally understand... I feel like cheering when I come to the one mile mark on my treadmill...
(ok.. I know that's pathetic, but I still get excited when I've made it that far... I have a long way to go... I know!!)But, I cannot lift my hands off the handle to cheer in fear I will go crashing into the wall behind me!! Jim and Briggs.... YOU INSPIRE ME!!!

I have had the greatest birthday this year... Despite the fact that I am now 48 years old... I have to tell you that I have been so completely blessed!! I LOVE the fact that I'm surrounded by such wonderful individuals, each of them caring enough to show me love in their own way and I love that!! It sure makes a mom feel wonderful to see all the things she has taught her children to do DOING THEM. And I wont even get into how great my husband is... well... maybe just a few things... he is always standing beside me, always has a way of encouraging me and he is always showing me love in his own special way. Again, I know to where all my blessings come from. I have made this blog as a place where my friends and family can come to to see my family and get up to date on all the things going on in our lives... so with that... I will post a couple pictures from last night at my little birthday party!! Now, after seeing the pictures.. you may be wondering why my two older sons look so in to it... well, it may appear that they are escaping all the fun by involving their whole souls into their phones... but not to worry... they are actually digitally ordering for the whole group of waiters to come to our table and sing and present me with cake... Briggs has been in Arizona over the weekend and he got to attend a Barrett-Jackson Auto Show with his Uncle Kyle, Aunt Georgy and cousin Stephen!! What a blast that was. Then he also got to be at his nephew Jack's first birthday party. If your thinking that was enough... well, Briggs in his usual self decides to run in a half marathon with his dad's cousin Jim the night before the marathon. He and Alex went and got some new running shoes for the big day and so not only did Briggs have to wear brand new shoes, but he ran the 12 miles without ever training for the race.
"What a Marathon Man" he is!!!!
Now I have to be a "marathon mom" and get his laundry done before school on Monday!!

Ryan and Dawn are out in Arizona right now attending the marriage of a good friend of Ryans. While there he is getting the oppertunity to visit with Alex and getting to play with Jack!! It was shocking to see how big Jack is getting... shouldn't he still be just a baby having to be held in arms??? Do they really grow up that fast??!! Jack will be 1 year old in just a couple days!! Ok.. I have to admit, I'm jealous of Ryan and Briggs as both of them get to go to Arizona this month and see Alex and family. And I have to stay here in good ol' snowy Nebraska!! When the weather turns nice, I plan to go out and spend some time with my little G-kids!!!! I love 'em!!

Jeannine's 80th Birthday Celebration...

On Sunday, 21 December we all gathered together to celebrate Jeannine's birthday, and we did in big style. Most of her children made the trip even in the snow and COLD, COLD weather. It was a nice party and she was very pleased. She had several of her friends show up to surprise her and several of her nieces and a nephew, and everyone brought gifts to share with her. What a great time it was... and the best part was to see her smile with delight at seeing all her family and friends!!

We want to wish all our family and friends a Merry Christmas!! It's been a great year and it's always sad for me to see another year end, but because I'm trying to be positive and know and have faith that Heavenly Father has another great year in store for us... I will just say to all "Merry Christmas and lets all keep the special feelings we have at this Christmas Season all through out this coming year". Thanks to everyone who have made this blog so much fun to do... thanks for all the personal comments and the good feelings you shared with me. I will keep posting pictures as my way to keep in touch.

Keeping Busy with Scouts...

Briggs has been busy earning his ranks up the Boy Scout trail to Eagle. He was awarded the Life Scout Award this last Wednesday night at the Court Of Honor. Along with his advancement he also earned his Personal Finance, Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting, and Sports award that night. He has a total of 28 merit badges with 9 of those required for the rank of an Eagle. He is on his way!! He was also elected to be the new Scribe for the troop, which he is looking forward to. In the picture he is pinning the moms merit badge on me!! I particularly like this one... it has a heart on it and he is a big part of my heart!! Ok... he makes me proud!! :-)
Plus... I'm the one who's always on him to work on his scout stuff!!!

What a great day it was... Mike got up early and got started on the turkey. The smell of cooking turkey was so delightful!! The kids showed up about noon and before we all knew it we were sitting there at the table stuffing ourselves silly with the delicious food that had been prepared. I love the times when we get together as a family and have a great time together. Memories are made and pictures are taken!! I have posted just a couple. We all sure wish Alex and Ashley, Anny, Ellie and Jack were here with us... That would simply make life so wonderful!! I know I complain a lot about missing my son Alex and family so much, but I do miss having all my boys around me. I know that I am blessed by just the fact that they are mine, but only wish that we were closer to where I could see them much more often then what I can now. But, aside from that I want to report that our family has been blessed in so many ways, we have a lot to be thankful for. I know where our blessings come from and for that I am so very thankful. This is a great time of year to look back over the year and give Thanks to a Heavenly Father who knows us and takes such great care of us.

At about 10:30 AM on Saturday morning a deer makes a deadly mistake, by running in front of the newest master shooter "Briggs Kellogg" who acted quickly and accurately in his first time ever shot at a deer in wildlife. Excitement rang for miles as he couldn't believe his eyes when the deer fell, yelling "WHOOOPEEE" signaling to other deer to steer clear of this little man dressed in florescent orange!! This was a day to remember!!

I got a call this morning at 10 o'clock sharp with word that Oliver was the first one to get a deer. There was so much excitement on the phone, it was crazy!! Then later today, (while I was out SHOPPING!) I got word that Briggs was the next to get a deer. Oh... Poor, poor Mike... how will he ever be able to live it down that his boys got the first deer this weekend?!! I guess there's a first time for everything!! :-)
I will post some pictures from the hunt later... Don't be distressed... I wont' post any pics with deer in them...I would rather forget that little detail myself!!

We moved into this house four years ago, all this time we have been dreaming of painting the house a color that is substantial, not a Easter Egg color like all the other houses in our neighborhood. Briggs' First GIG

Briggs has been practicing with friends from church over the last summer and TODAY was his first gig!! They set up early and practiced for hours beforehand and the end result was great!! Each of them played three songs together and then each of them played a solo and Tate (dark hair boy) played a solo of a song he wrote himself. VERY IMPRESSIVE GIG especially for their first time ever in front of a neighborhood crowd!!
Those playing are Briggs (drums),Spencer (guitar blond boy), Tate (guitar dark hair) and Megan (piano), tho Megan isn't in the picture I posted. What a great day!!!

I don't know anything about football, I don't know the moves, plays, or well, even why anyone would want to play this game, but I do want to show my son Briggs in his second football game out of the 4 game season for his middle school. Just the fact that he is let out on the field is good enough for me. Picture taking is hard, as when I downloaded the pictures from yesterday, I had tons of sky and field with no players... guess they move too fast for me!!! So proud of Briggs, he is loving playing along with his buddies, but I am hoping that I will be able to go to football games next year and watch him play in the band instead... :-)

Briggs had this same kind of swing when he was a little guy so when Jack was born, I HAD to get him one just like Briggs'. THINGS ARE RETURNING TO NORMAL

Now that the laundry is done and the house is straightened up I can begin to settle back into reality!! Briggs kept telling me that nothing new had happened when I was away, which made me feel great, but then he went on to show me his mid semester report cards and that totally made my day. He is making all A's again and it makes me so proud of him. He is in the 8th grade this year, all new stuff and so far so good. He has been accepted to participate in the Show Choir again this year and is currently working on the music for the All State Band, which is causing him to work hard at it. He is playing the French Horn and I can honestly say that for the first time I can stand to listen to the music he makes from that instrument. I know what your thinking... what kind of mother is she... but those old memories of Ryan and him learning the clarinet came flooding back in and I had to hold tight just to get through his practice times. Really!!!
He played the Trumpet for Jazz Band and I really LOVED that... his band teacher is awesome and made this whole learning process fun for us parents. His Jazz concert at the end of last year was awesome and I was so pleased with the fun they had and also the music they played. Great job.
Briggs has a goal this year to stay on the Honor Roll at school and if he does this he will of been on the Honor Roll for all three years of Middle School. I am giving him as much positive reinforcement as I can. I am posting his latest sculpture he has made in his Art class. He tells me he has another one that I will just love. (It's the Phantom of the Opera). I will post that one too later!!

I'm Back!!!

It just seems unreal to me that I was in New York City and now I'm already back home and sitting at my computer once again... It was the fastest 5 days on my life. I don't think I have ever toured, sight saw, eat or slept, walked and talked as fast as I did these last few days... The pace in New York City is crazy, your up early and going to bed late, and not relaxing for a second when your there... There's just too much to do and see!! But, this is the life style of New York City dwellers... it was fun to watch and sit back and consider for a while. When we think of going to work or somewhere, we get in our car and cruise to where ever we're going... in NYC they get up and get on a ferry or walk to wherever it is that your going. I guess it's not so different, just a different way of doing things.
I can tell you this trip was worth every dime I spent, truly a life experience.
We got to go to the Manhattan Temple while we were there. It is right on the busy street, as if it were a store, but of course, the inside was just like we expected it to be and I am so grateful that I got that experience also. I am going to post a couple of my most favorite pictures cuz... I have literally 100's of them, but only my favorites will be posted here. Next time your going to NYC, let me know... I'll go with!!

this was an experience I will NEVER forget!! I think I now have only $4.00 left in my pocket book!!!! Anyway, it's been the greatest experience. No one can describe New York City with any accuracy... you gotta see if for yourselves. The buildings, the shoreline, the people, the fast pace... all this and more!! Next time I will visit here with Mike and Briggs... they've gotta see this place.

I had a great surprise this week!! I got a surprise little gift on Tuesday when I got a surprise call from a friend from long ago that she and her daughter were traveling through Omaha on their way to Chicago and wanted to meet up.... It was so exciting, of course, that was the longest 5 hours to pass, but it was so worth the wait to get to see my friend once again and have dinner with her and her daughter Amy. My friend Christine is someone I met during my high school years... (that's been a LONG time ago)but it was like yesterday when we sat there together visiting. I have been blessed in my life with great life long friends all of whom I'm so very thankful for. I forgot my camera, but she didn't and so I will post a pic of us when she sends it to me. This year I have gotten to see many of my friends and it has been such a sweet experience getting back together.

One of the greatest things about being a "Mom" is the fact that at any age... your children always love you... and I have four boys who are so good to me, who show me their love and respect and I'm so thankful for them. Heavenly Father has been so good to me. We got to spend 5 days this last week with all the boys together, and when we all get together... it is always so much fun. Busyness on 201st Circle. Mike flew Alex into Omaha to help him with the roofing of our house. The need for a new roof was a result of a recent storm we had this summer. We love the new roof, it looks so nice as you can see from the pictures. So many great things have happened since all my guys got up on the roof, one of which is that I got a new roof, the other is the spectacle they have made while doing it!! Yeah... that's right... 5 great looking guys up on one roof, and that roof being mine!! We were the hit of the neighborhood!! Olivers comment summed it all up... "even Big Butts can do a mean job up on the roof". :-) It's just been great to see all my guys getting together and with combined effort the job gets done and all can sit back and enjoy the satisfaction!!

This great production is coming to a close... What a GREAT experience is has been for our whole family!! We have met new friends, gotten to know people who are completely dedicated to the show, church and gospel. This whole production has been a huge commitment, but one that we will never forget. Tonight is our last night, looking forward to the testimony meeting afterward to hear how this has affected the others, wonder if it's affected them as much as it has affected us. The Mormon pioneers and the story there is one that we all should get to know better, it has been a real testimony builder for me of patience, hope, faith and fully understanding our dependence on our Heavenly Father.

The greatest thing about gathering a family together, other then for the opportunities to spend quality time with family... is the awesome opportunity to get some awesome pictures!! This is one taken of Ellie, that I just love... see how awesome it is??!! So awesome that I wanted to get a picture of me just like it, so that she and I would have something in common!! Come Home to Kanesville

What a busy summer it's been, but the most fun we've had is being a part of the "Come Home to Kanesville" production. It's been long and a major commitment, but I know we all are better because of it!! The cast is fantastic and a lot of fun to be around. It has been great to see this thing come together and now to see it done all the way through with a crowd every night that is enjoying every part of it. I will post a picture of the cast later.

Our family is growing... and I have to say this is a most exciting time for us. It has been a great story so far. Of my four boys... all three of the oldest are married now, and I have to admit... I am just fine with the knowledge that it will be a few years before Briggs gets married. And we do have a secret in our family..... Your not going to believe it... but, we have princesses in our family too!! I will add pictures to prove it. Actually, I have it even better then that... I have two princesses and two princes.... one is 13 and one isn't even 1 yet... Do I have it good or what??!! Look at how wonderful they are!!!
